Trust me, Babe.

There’s Beauty in the Breakdown

In 2019, my life changed. Despite what you may think, you are never really prepared when you hear the words, "stage 4 cancer." Nor are you prepared for the aftermath. It's a constant rush of emotions. Your life becomes filled with so much worry, fear, unease and guilt. Did you do enough to fight? Did you prepare your loved ones? Why didn't you tell that person that you loved them? How much time do you have left? Why didn't you visit that island like you dreamed?

So many questions...so little time...so many tears...

In essence, your life begins to feel like the Dream Deferred that Langston spoke about. But the syrupy sweet is more akin to Strange Fruit.

But, what if living with an illness, became the passport to a freer and a more fulfilled life? What if it forced you to look at life differently and discover your true purpose?

I've had to lose so much. But I've gained so much more of myself.

Trust me, babe. There is beauty in the breakdown.

In the Wake of the Storm

Scared. No, seriously. Nothing prepares you for hearing those words. Honestly, Doctors don't really prepare you either. They just plop it on you. Heavy. What the hell do you with that? Not to mention that everyone around starts to react and you have no clue what you are supposed to do. Its the little space in between the twilight zone and nightmare that you are supposed to exist. The whole world is stage, right? Here is your moment. Say something. Everybody is leaning in. Say something. Everyone else is reacting. Say something. They are crying. Say something. They are shaking. Say something. Everyone is freaking out. Say something.

    What...the...entire...hell...?

  • Introspection

Now, what? Is this my fault? Didn't I check my breasts? I know I did. I knowActually, I'm really pissed off. It's not fair.

  • Grow it.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
